Ethiopian authorities deported General Secretary of the EOTC Holy Synod and Archbishop of the Diocese of New York, His Eminence Abune Petros.

His Eminence Abune Petros, General Secretary of the Holy Synod and Archbishop of the Diocese of New York and surrounding areas, told me a few minutes ago by phone that he’s denied entry into Ethiopia and is returning back to the U.S.
“Actually, we knew that this was coming… there were false reports of my defection a month ago when I left for the U.S. But I want to say that this is a move to humiliate our Church. This should be clear to everyone.”
He added several attempts to resolve the issue was not successful, and he’s now on the same aircraft returning back
