ሀገራቸውን ከጣልያን ነፃ ለማውጣት ለተዋጉት እና ለሞቱት ኢትዮጵያውያን እንዲሁም የሁለተኛው የዓለም ጦርነትን የመጀመርያ ድል ለሕብረት ሃይሎች ላበሰረው የጎንደር ድል መታሰቢያ ይሁን።
በጀግንነት የተዋደቁትን የኢትዮጵያ አርበኞች እና የጦር ሐይሎች እንደዚሁም ከአኢትዮጵያ ጎን ቆመው የተዋደቁትን የታላቋ ብሪታንያንና በእሷ ጥላ ስር ያሉ ሀገራት ጀግኖችን እናስባለን።
የኢትዮጵያን በጣልያን ሐይል መያዝና መውደቅ ለመቃወም ለ5 አመታት የጠነከረ የመከላከል ትግል ተደርጎ ያከተመው በጎንደር በተደረገው ጦርነት አና ድል ነው።
ስለሆነም ኢትዮጵያውያን ከሚወዷቸው ንጉሠ ነገሥታቸውና መሪያቸው ከግርማዊ ቀዳማዊ ኃይለ ሥላሴ ጋር እንደገና ለመገናኘት ቻሉ።

In remembrance of those gallant Ethiopian Patriots, and members of the Armed Forces of Ethiopia, the United Kingdom, and the Commonwealth.
Five years of the strenuously-resisted Italian occupation of Ethiopia were over with the final battle at Gondar, and Ethiopians were reunited with their beloved Emperor and leader, His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I.
