Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Addis Abeba today for a working visit to Ethiopia.
FM Lavrov was welcomed at the Addis Abeba Bole International Airport by Demeke Mekonnen, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Birtukan Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs and other high-level government officials.
“During his stay in Ethiopia, Lavrov is due to consult with high-ranking government officials on matters that will strengthen the ties between the two countries,” MoFA said.
Prior to Addis, FM Lavrov visited Egypt and the Democratic Republic of the Congo as part of his Africa tour.
Previously, FM Lavrov visited Addis Abeba in 2018 and signed agreements to boost relations between Ethiopia and Russia.
Similarly, Demeke Mekonnen, paid a visit to Russia in 2021 to discuss collaboration and strengthen relationships, according to
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.
